It’s been a while since we’ve covered Dutch ReBelle in all its solo glory. Recent articles have found the Boston rapper spitting bars alongside Shellz and King Fiya; heck, even her 2021 video for “Stony” positioned her among a mix of prominent friends and Boston creatives. But with its new “Gooniez” visual, Dutch ReBelle trades company for center stage, stripping its set of a freight elevator and a desolate Connecticut warehouse. The video dropped last week (July 19), following the release in early July of the Smoke-produced single.
By ReBelle standards, her new surroundings may seem bare, but the “Gooniez” video is a reminder that she is view. Posing in a stretched leather ensemble, she issues a warning: “Don’t let your sons or daughters out / Unless they be with that shit.” But if you’re with the ReBelle crew, they’re ready to show just how far their fast rabbit hole goes.
“I still continue my ode to femme fatales and unsung badass heroines,” she says. Vanyaland, building on the theme we saw in his video for “Stony.” “It was a mix between the role of Jada Pinkett Smith in The matrix [series]Trinity of The matrixand Uma Thurman in pulp Fiction.”
