Rotel has announced two new custom installation amplifiers, the C8 and C8+. Class AB amplifiers deliver eight channels of high-performance multi-zone audio and are powered by an oversized, in-house manufactured toroidal transformer.
The C8 delivers 70 watts of power per channel into 4 ohm loads, while the C8+ delivers 150 watts of power per channel into 4 ohm loads, with all channels driven.
Both models have a convenient 2U high chassis and come with rack ears. Speaker outputs use detachable Phoenix connectors for pre-wired installation with secure screw locking mechanisms.
Zone outputs are bridged, delivering 140W and 300W respectively into 4 ohms and an auto-sensing and switching PA Override function ensures ultimate installation flexibility. Both units have four analog source inputs, which are available to all zone outputs via internal matrix switching; these are further customizable with independent volume, balance, bass and treble settings.
The C8+ also includes two optical and two coaxial digital inputs supporting matrixed 24-bit/192kHz audio at the outputs.
For easy setup and operation, there’s a graphic display with controls for things like active matrix input source selection and real-time volume control for each zone.
The integration of the control system is done via RS232, Ethernet and 12V trigger connectivity. The C8 and C8+ will launch in the US in May, with the rest of the world to follow.
The Rotel C8 and C8+ are priced at £2,350 ($2,599, €2,600) and £2,850 ($3,199, €3,200) respectively.
