Royal Mail: Company warns of major delays across Britain

Britons across the country have had to wait weeks for their mail in recent days. Due to Covid issues, Royal Mail has been hit with major parcel and letter delays. What are the most affected areas today?

Royal Mail has updated its website to notify customers of any parcel delays today, January 22.

The company said it operated an air, rail and road network to move letters and parcels between our distribution centres, mail processing centers and delivery offices across the UK.

Royal Mail’s air, rail and road networks have operated as expected for the past 24 hours.

However, one of its message centers is having problems.

Royal Mail said: ‘The mail center below has reported that not all mail has been processed or dispatched as expected in the past 24 hours, and as a result some mail may be delivered slightly later than foreseen.

“South Midlands Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday to postcode areas CV, LE, MK and NN, is due for delivery today to addresses in the rest of the UK.”

Regarding deliveries today, the company continued, “Deliveries are operating normally across most of the country today.

“Our goal is to deliver to all addresses for which we have mail, six days a week.

“In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as Covid-related self-isolation, high levels of sickness absence, resources or other local factors.

“In these cases, we will alternate deliveries to minimize the delay for individual customers.

“We are also providing targeted support to these offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high level that our customers would normally receive.”

Royal Mail added: “We are sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

Britons have taken to social media over the past 24 hours to express their fury and frustration at the delays.

Responding to a friend’s parcel, Twitter user @Lillytuft said: “Too bad it took a month to post when I paid for 1st class. Thing is I paid the full postage. They did that on all my packages and that doesn’t explain a four week delay.

User @BlobWithAGob commented: “I thought I was going crazy they took weeks to deliver packages. This has been happening since last year in November.

User @sonniyetokuyucu added: “I’m really sick of #royalmail. They always make excuses for delays and claim you’re covered up to a certain value but they just use avoidance tactics and completely ignore the vendors. It’s absolutely disgusting.
